The international Mountainrace Merano 2000 is one of the top mountain running in Italy. The route is 10 km long and includes an elevation gain of 1.300 m.
Startpoint of this competition is the beautifully situated village Scena near Merano. The first three kilometers of the race are on asphalt and the next seven on hiking trails and ski slopes. The finish line is on the ski resort Merano 2000 on an elevation of 1886 m.

Every year on this day (this year the 25th April 2011) takes place this popular event: it already begins in the morning with a procession of the Haflinger horses through the town centre of Merano, accompanied by different colorful floats and brass bands.
